Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday 12 November 2026, according to SEGA’s 10 June 2026 release and the ATLUS Asia Switch 2 page. It is the fantasy RPG from ATLUS’ Studio Zero that first released in October 2024 on other platforms. Nintendo’s US and Australian pages list the same calendar date; a dedicated Nintendo Singapore product page was not listed when we checked on 6 November 2026.
Here is what SEGA, ATLUS and Nintendo have confirmed so far.

What is Metaphor: ReFantazio?
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a fantasy RPG from ATLUS’ Studio Zero. SEGA places its first release in October 2024 on a number of platforms, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following in 2026.
The creative leads are Katsura Hashino, Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro, the same trio behind Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 5. SEGA presents it as a strong entry point for newcomers to ATLUS titles.
On awards, SEGA states that Metaphor: ReFantazio won three awards at The Game Awards 2024, including Best RPG, and took the Grand Award at the Japan Game Awards 2025. The same page says the PlayStation 5 version “achieved a Metascore of 94”. That is SEGA’s wording; we are not adding other review aggregates. In Japan the Switch 2 release is rated CERO C (15 and over).
Editions on Nintendo Switch 2
Standard edition. Available as a physical Standard Edition and a digital Standard Edition. ATLUS Asia’s note for the physical version is clear: “Only game-key cards are available for the physical version.”
Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary Edition. SEGA says this digital edition includes the digital base game, digital art book and soundtrack apps, and DLC. ATLUS Asia also lists an Anniversary Edition upgrade (without the base game) that bundles a Digital Artbook, Digital Soundtrack, Atlus 35th Digital History Book, Atlus 35th Digital All-Time Best Soundtrack, and a Costume and Battle BGM Set Bundle. Nintendo Australia’s Anniversary Edition page matches that line-up and adds an Essential Digital Strategy Guide marked English only. Soundtrack tracks play inside the digital app; ATLUS Asia notes they cannot be downloaded as separate audio files such as MP3.
Early purchase bonuses. SEGA names two in-game item sets (also summarised on Nintendo US’s publisher note). Contents only:
- Archetype EXP Chest Set: 10x Hero’s Incenses (Archetype Experiences +100) and 5x Hero’s Fruits (+500).
- Adventurer’s Journey Pack: 30,000 Reeve, 3x Magical Breads, 5x Expensive Medicines (200 HP), 2x Stale Blackbreads (300 Almighty to one enemy) and 5x Revival Medicines.
Availability windows can differ by storefront, so check the official listing you use rather than assuming a single global cut-off.
What are Nintendo Switch 2 game-key cards?
Nintendo’s Switch 2 Game-Key Card Overview explains it like this:
- A game-key card does not hold the full game data. It is a “key” that lets you download the full game over the internet.
- You need an internet connection and enough free space in system memory or on a microSD Express card for that first download.
- After the download, you play by keeping the game-key card inserted, the same way you would with a regular game card.
- An internet connection is only required the first time you launch the game on that system.
- Playing software from a game-key card needs system version 20.1.1 or higher.
Nintendo US estimates the download at about 62.1 GB, so plan storage first.

FAQs
When does Metaphor: ReFantazio come out on Nintendo Switch 2?
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday 12 November 2026. SEGA’s 10 June 2026 release and the ATLUS Asia Switch 2 page both give that date, and Nintendo’s US and Australian pages match it. None of those pages lists a launch time, so check the eShop on the day rather than relying on an unofficial clock.
Is Metaphor: ReFantazio new on Switch 2, or a later version of an older game?
It is a later platform version of an existing game. SEGA says Metaphor: ReFantazio first released in October 2024 on a number of platforms, and that the Nintendo Switch 2 version follows on 12 November 2026. It remains a fantasy RPG from ATLUS’ Studio Zero, led by Katsura Hashino, Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro.
What is the Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary Edition?
SEGA describes it as a digital edition that includes the digital base game, digital art book and soundtrack apps, and DLC. ATLUS Asia’s upgrade list (without the base game) names a Digital Artbook, Digital Soundtrack, Atlus 35th Digital History Book, Atlus 35th Digital All-Time Best Soundtrack, and a Costume and Battle BGM Set Bundle. Soundtrack tracks play inside the app and are not offered as separate downloadable audio files.
Are physical copies of Metaphor: ReFantazio on Switch 2 game-key cards?
Yes. ATLUS Asia’s Switch 2 product note says only game-key cards are available for the physical version. Nintendo Support explains that a game-key card is a key to download the full game over the internet, after which the card must stay inserted to play, like a regular game card.
Is there a Nintendo Singapore listing for Metaphor: ReFantazio yet?
Not when we checked on 6 November 2026. Nintendo Singapore search and the usual Switch 2 product URL patterns did not show a Metaphor page. SEGA, ATLUS Asia, Nintendo US and Nintendo AU all list 12 November 2026, so treat that as the official calendar date and re-check closer to launch.
