Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches on Thursday 22 October 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Singapore confirmed the date in a news post on 12 June 2026, which promises a return to Wuhu Island and 12 sports played with Joy-Con 2 motion controls. The same 22 October date appears on Nintendo of America’s game page and in Nintendo UK’s Upcoming Games for October 2026, published on 30 September.
That means the game arrives two days after this post. Here is what Nintendo has confirmed so far: the date, the full list of sports, the modes for solo and group play, and what you need to get started.

All 12 sports in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort
Nintendo Singapore counts 12 sports, mixing new and returning ones. You play them with Joy-Con 2 controllers used “as rackets, bows and even handlebars”, as Nintendo puts it. The list, in Nintendo Singapore’s words, is:
- Boxing
- Table Tennis
- Archery
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- Bowling
- Basketball
- Golf
- Thumb Wrestling
- Skateboarding (a leisure sport, using Joy-Con 2 mouse controls)
- Power Cruising (a leisure sport)
- Prop Plane (a leisure sport)
There are also Jump Rope warm-ups, which Nintendo mentions separately from the 12 sports. Nintendo of America’s page highlights Skateboarding and Thumb Wrestling as the new additions alongside classics such as Archery, Basketball, Boxing and Tennis.
Modes: Island Crown, local play and online play
The game is built for both solo and group play. According to Nintendo of America, the main ways to play are:
- Island Crown: a single-player-focused mode where you take on the Island Champions and Legends, including a Mii character called Matt, across nine sports. You earn customisation options and Spocco Points as you climb the ranks.
- Play together on one system: up to four people can play offline on the same Nintendo Switch 2.
- Friend Lobby: a private online lobby for up to eight players, with up to two players on each system.
- Casual Online Play: relaxed matches in nine sports against players worldwide, without ranked results.
- Ranked online play: an online mode that matches you with players around the world of a similar skill level.
The online features need a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account, according to the same page.
Wuhu Island and the Sightseeing Tour
The game is set at Spocco Resort on Wuhu Island. Nintendo of America says you can explore the island by land, sea and air: Power Cruise through open water, Skateboard across the resort or fly a Prop Plane through the sky. A Sightseeing Tour lets you discover the island while completing challenges and collecting Spocco Photos.
Customising your Sportsmate
You can play as a Mii character or a Sportsmate, says Nintendo Singapore. Nintendo of America describes a range of hairstyles, outfits, accessories and Body Types, with saved looks you can swap between. Spocco Points earned in play unlock more cosmetic items from the Item Center, which Nintendo says gets two item collections each week and new themed items every month.
What you need to play
You need a Nintendo Switch 2 system and Joy-Con 2 controllers. For group play, Nintendo Singapore’s footnote says “additional games, systems and/or accessories may be required for multiplayer mode”, so check how many controllers your group will need before a family session. Nintendo also advises players to wear wrist straps and leave enough room around them.
