Pokémon TCG Pocket October 2026 update graphic with a phone outline, blank cards and a two-colour dual-type card

Deluxe Pack: Mega has been out in Pokémon TCG Pocket since 9am Singapore time on Wednesday 30 September 2026, which was 6pm PDT on Tuesday 29 September in the US. Next, dual-type cards, starting with Mega Mewtwo X ex, and first partner Pokémon as Pokémon ex cards “start rolling out in October 2026” and kick off a new series of expansions, according to The Pokémon Company’s PokémonXP announcement. No exact date has been announced yet.

Toward the end of October, rental decks, theme deck lists, deck missions and step-up battles also change. Here is what is in the app now, what is coming, and what to do before the update.

What is in Deluxe Pack: Mega

The Pokémon Company’s Deluxe Pack: Mega announcement says the expansion brings back many cards from earlier expansions, from Mega Rising to Ruler of the Skies, including reissues of every ♦♦♦♦ card from those sets. Each four-card pack includes one Pokémon ex, and there are parallel foil cards and cards with new artwork to collect.

If you are newer to the app, the diamonds are rarity symbols. Pokémon TCG Pocket ranks cards from one to four diamonds, then one to three stars, then a crown, and its official collecting guide says diamond cards are the most common. So ♦♦♦♦ is the highest diamond rarity, and star and crown cards are rarer.

The release also added covers and backdrops featuring Mega Charizard X from 30 September. These pages give no pull rates, so we won’t guess them.

Dual-type cards, starting with Mega Mewtwo X ex

Dual-type cards are Pokémon cards with two types. The first one shown is Mega Mewtwo X ex, which pokemon.com describes as a dual Psychic and Fighting type. The Pokémon Company’s Worlds 2026 closing recap adds that dual-type Pokémon arrive in the game’s next series beginning October 2026, with “more information” to come at a later date.

Full card details have not been published on pokemon.com yet, so treat Mega Mewtwo X ex as an announced card for now.

First partner Pokémon as Pokémon ex

The same update lets you collect first partner Pokémon as Pokémon ex cards. So far The Pokémon Company has shown Piplup ex and Fuecoco ex, and it hints that other first partners may follow without naming them. Together, these cards “kick off a new series of Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions”.

What changes toward the end of October

According to the Deluxe Pack: Mega Coming Soon notice, several features are being reworked “toward the end of October 2026”. No exact date is given, and The Pokémon Company says more features and changes will be announced closer to the update.

Community decks

A new community decks feature will let you search for decks that other players have made public. You can build any of them if you own the cards.

Rental decks

Your current rental decks will be deleted. In their place, you will be able to rent decks built with cards from the latest booster packs and use them an unlimited number of times in both solo and versus battles.

Theme deck lists and deck missions

Theme deck lists and deck missions will be discontinued.

Step-up battles become a new solo-battle system

Step-up battles are being reworked into a new solo-battle system where the difficulty rises as you move through the stages. After the update, the current step-up battles will no longer be available, and you won’t be able to get their first-time rewards or battle tasks. If you still have some of those left, clear them before the update.

October events in the app

Deluxe Pack: Mega came with a set of in-app events, all run inside Pokémon TCG Pocket itself:

  • Mass outbreak (late September to early October): this event brought parallel foil cards to rare picks and bonus picks, with event missions that gave shop tickets.
  • Ranked Match Season B4b SP (mid to late October): more rank points than usual, a win streak bonus that now goes up to 10 consecutive wins, and no rank points lost or rank drop when you are defeated, whatever your rank.
  • Mega Garchomp ex Drop Event (mid to late October): complete solo battles to earn B Series vol. 13 promo packs.
  • Wonder pick event (mid to late October): collect Charmander and Drampa cards. Wonder picking lets you take a card from booster packs that friends and other players have opened.
