Frieren Season 3 and Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 both land in October. Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer are all in the works, but none has an official 2027 date yet.

1. Sakamoto Days Season 2 (January 2027)
Netflix has confirmed Sakamoto Days Season 2 for January 2027, and TMS Entertainment animates again, with Daisuke Nakajima as the new director. Yuto Suzuki’s action comedy follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary hitman who retired, got married and now runs a convenience store. Season 1 won fans with fights where everyday objects become weapons. Season 2 sends Sakamoto and Shin undercover at the JCC assassin academy, and the first teaser is already out. As the first big Shonen Jump title of the year, it should set the tone for 2027.
2. The One Piece on Netflix (February 2027)
The One Piece is a new adaptation by WIT Studio arriving on Netflix in February 2027, with all seven episodes of Season 1 released at once. Netflix says the season covers the East Blue saga’s first 50 chapters. For newer fans put off by more than 1,100 episodes, this is the easiest way in. For long-time fans, it is a chance to see Romance Dawn with modern animation.
3. Kagurabachi (April 2027)
Kagurabachi gets its TV anime in April 2027, produced by studio Cypic. Takeru Hokazono’s manga follows Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a famous swordsmith, on a revenge mission with his father’s enchanted katana. It became an online talking point early in its run, and its sword fights look made for animation. Of all the new shows in 2027, this is our pick for the breakout.
4. The Apothecary Diaries Season 3, Part 2 (April 2027)
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 airs in two parts: Part 1 began in October 2026 and Part 2 follows in April 2027. Maomao, a sharp young apothecary in the imperial palace, keeps solving poisonings and court mysteries, and this season takes the story beyond the inner palace. The mix of slow-burn romance and clever detective work makes the April return one to circle.
5. One Piece TV anime and One Piece Film: God Valley (2027)
The main One Piece anime is on a break: Episode 1180 aired on 27 September 2026 and the next episode airs in 2027, with the exact schedule still to come. Since 2026 the series runs a maximum of 26 episodes a year. One Piece Film: God Valley opens in Japanese cinemas in summer 2027. God Valley is one of the biggest mysteries in the story, so the film should draw casual fans too. Add the Netflix series, and 2027 is a huge year for One Piece.
6. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 (October 2027)
Frieren Season 3 is confirmed for October 2027 and will cover the Golden Land arc, with Madhouse producing again. Frieren is an elf mage who outlives her hero party and travels again to understand the humans she lost. Its calm pacing, beautiful art and big magic battles made it one of the most loved fantasy anime of the decade, and the Golden Land arc is a fan favourite in the manga.
7. Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 (October 2027)
Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 premieres in Japan in October 2027 and streams on Netflix, with Studio Trigger animating again. Laios and his party dive deep into a dungeon and survive by cooking the monsters they defeat. Season 1 mixed fantasy adventure, comedy and real cooking logic like nothing else. With Frieren starting the same month, October 2027 looks like a very strong season.

8. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2
MAPPA has confirmed Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 is in production, with Takeru Sato as the new director, but no release window has been given. Part 1 brought Yuji, Megumi and the other sorcerers into a deadly battle royale across Japan, and Part 2 picks up straight from there. A 2027 return is possible, but it is not official.
9. Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc
MAPPA released a teaser for Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc in June 2026, with Tatsuya Yoshihara directing and continuing from the Reze Arc film. There is no date yet, and MAPPA has not said whether it will be a TV series or films. The story sees Denji face assassins from around the world who are after the Chainsaw Devil’s heart.
10. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2
Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle trilogy continues with Part 2 from ufotable. Reports of a 2027 release were later corrected, and no specific release dates have been confirmed. Part 1 opened in Japan on 18 July 2025 and became a global box office hit. If Part 2 lands in 2027, it will likely be the biggest anime event of the year.
