What happened in the 1st Stage
The 1st Stage premiered worldwide on Netflix on 19 March 2026 as a single episode. It sets up the Steel Ball Run itself: a horse race across 1890s North America, with Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli setting off as rivals turned companions. The 2nd and 3rd Stage pick up the race from there, which is why Netflix names each batch after a stage of the race.
New characters and cast
Three major characters arrive in the 2nd and 3rd Stage, with their Japanese voice actors:
- Mountain Tim, voiced by Tomoaki Maeno
- Hot Pants, voiced by Yoko Hikasa
- Funny Valentine, voiced by Tomokazu Sugita
Shogo Sakata (Johnny Joestar) and Yohei Azakami (Gyro Zeppeli) lead the Japanese cast. In the English dub, Daman Mills returns as Johnny and Damien Haas as Diego Brando. Yasuko Kobayashi writes the series and Yugo Kanno composes the music, as on earlier JoJo seasons.
Do you need to watch the earlier JoJo parts first?
No. Steel Ball Run starts a new continuity with new versions of familiar names, so it works as a starting point for new viewers. Long-time fans will still spot plenty of nods to Parts 1 to 6.
How to watch Steel Ball Run in Singapore
Stream it on Netflix Singapore; it is available to Netflix members in every country. Start with the 1st Stage (episode 1), then watch the weekly episodes each Friday from 4pm. Japanese and English audio are both available.
